TOPPER’S DECK
Covered, heated patio dining is all the rage in Nantucket. Topper’s brings world class dining experience alfresco on TOPPER’S Deck. What a great idea! Topper’s continues to be one of the best fine dining restaurants on island. It’s owned and operated by Nantucket Resorts and is located in the Relaix Chateau accredited Wauwinett Hotel. From the White Elephant’s dock, step aboard the “Wauwinet Lady” (reservations needed) and enjoy a leisurely cruise to Topper’s. In inclement weather, you can opt to take the complimentary shuttle van, which runs on the half hour.
Make sure when booking your dinner reservation that you allow yourself the time to order a cocktail in the quaint, intimate little bar located off the deck. My Hendrick’s “Ice Rink” martini was made to perfection. You could’ve skated over the top of it. Nantucket heaven! Dinner was a casual affair. We enjoyed an appetizer of Caesar salad. The produce was freshly picked at Bartlett Farms that same day. It was tossed with a creamy house roasted garlic dressing and topped with pesto croutons.
For classic comfort food, try the dry-aged sirloin steak entrée served with hand cut fries and sauce au poivre. Ours was grilled to a medium rare perfection. It was delicious and really hit the spot.

GETTING THERE
Nantucket is not an easy place to get to. That’s why people like it so much. The most economical way to get there is to drive to Hyannis Port, MA and take the Hy-Line fast ferry or the Nantucket Steamship Authority’s regular ferry service. Alternately, from New York City, you can hop on one of Jet Blue’s daily non-stop service flights or take one of Cape Air’s small twin engine Cesna 420’s from Signature Aviations FBO out of Westchester County Airport (HPN.)
If you do leave from the Westchester Airport, you’ll have to drive into the secured parking lot to stage your luggage, as you can’t park in Signature’s lot overnight. There are two parking options. The closest is the overnight garage within walking distance of Signature. ($27 per day) The other option is a discount parking lot located on the campus of SUNY Purchase. ($15 per day) There is a shuttle bus service that will pick you up and drop you off. The flight to Nantucket is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes and the round trip airfare is $618.00, all-inclusive.
