and the 40” flat panel display. Very cool. The property layout includes three separate towers; each uniquely positioned to offer sweeping views of the gardens, pools and the Sea of Cortez. From our room, on the fifth floor, we enjoyed drop dead gorgeous views. Hands down, this room deserves a five-star location rating. The modern marble bathroom equipped with rain shower and terra cotta tile, opens into a room decorated in earth tones and stained hardwood furniture. Our private balcony was furnished with a bistro table and chairs. We’d recommend ordering breakfast from room service (included in the Premium Club at no extra charge) and dining outside so you can take advantage of the spectacular sunrise each morning. Amazing! If an oceanfront room isn’t your thing, book a Barceló “swim up” suite. Here, sliding doors to your balcony provide you with chaise lounges that sit right in the pool. If you’re more suited to a rock star lifestyle, reserve the Presidential Suite in the main tower. You’ll love the views and the romantic mosaic tiled spa on the balcony.
DINING
This is one of the best values in the all-inclusive experience. There are two buffet restaurants serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. We hit the buffet every morning and I must say the service was great. Menu options ranged from traditional American breakfast items such as egg white omelets and toasted bagels to local savory Mexican favorites. Premium Club guests can choose from five a-la-carte restaurants and there's no extra charge. Certain items like sake at dinner or high end bottles of wine may cost extra depending on the restaurant. We especially enjoyed our dinner at the French restaurant, Bon Vivant. The Chilean sea bass, garnished with asparagus and a mélange of fresh veggies rivaled my favorite dish served at La Charlotte on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. I was pleasantly surprised. We also dined at the Hacienda Steak House, which boasts the most incredible views of the sea. The warm tropical breezes enhanced the dining experience and our lively conversations. The ambiance here is not to be missed. Hacienda also serves a buffet lunch daily. Other a-la-carte restaurants include:
Lotus Japanese Restaurant
Capri Italian Restaurant
El Cortijo
LIFE SPA
This spa rivals any facility with a five star rating. The revitalization process begins the moment you arrive. We recommend relaxing in the steam room and cooling off under the bucket shower. The sudden drenching of ten gallons of cold water on warm skin is exhilarating. Relax at the pool or soak in spa before heading upstairs for a fifty-minute sports massage. Then sit back and sip lemon water in the lounge. Premium Club guests receive discounts on spa services.
