At Bedford Post Inn

Driving down the back roads of beautiful Bedford, NY, you'll come across a restored Dutch Colonial dating back to the 1860s. It sits right on the Old Post Road. The property was renovated by actor Richard Gere and is now known as the Relais and Chateaux, Bedford Post Inn.|
Celebrities Galore!
It's the perfect place to take your favorite prancing horse or pony on a Sunday morning for some delicious comfort food at the “The Barn”. Ralph Lauren is a regular in his fly yellow Ferrari and Martha Stewart hitches her thoroughbred to the post while enjoying breakfast.
Rustic Bucolic Ambience
The entrance is rustic as is the interior lending itself to the open flow of the indoor and outdoor dining space. At 11AM, there are a handful of tables taken but my first sight after the hostess, is Brendan Fraser in jeans and a baseball hat asking to be seated outside in the sunshine.
I was seated inside at a table where I had a full view of the restaurant and bar, which is run by Chef Michael White and Executive Chef of the Barn Devin Bozkaya, formally from the Inn at Little Washington.
Manger Michael Mazzella knows how to work the room! He ordered us delicious mimosas and made us feel welcomed and a part of the Bedford Post Inn Family.
Even though the Barn is starting to buzz with activity, the service is seamless and our order is taken without being rushed.
The Food
The dishes arrive at our table beginning with the light and silky avocado on 7 grain toast $7 and although this is a casual brunch, each bite is defined with such amazing taste and appeal that it is hard to believe we are in horse country.
Next up that we tasted was the Salmon Carpaccio under a fresh herb salad that was drizzled with a vinaigrette and a warm poached egg gently perched on top $21.
The pan seared steak and eggs that rested on roasted potatoes in a chimichurri sauce $28 were only enhanced by the small crockpot they arrived in.
Last entrée we tried would be the Baked Eggs with a delicate tomato sauce and parmesan $15 served with country white bread.
The Desserts
When the Cappuccino and Espressos were brought out. I was delighted to have saved some room for desserts, which were a compliment of Flourless Chocolate cake with caramel mousse played well with the side of vanilla gelato and candied coco nibs to add the most amazing texture to each spoonful. Next up was the yummy Gianduja Bundino (my favorite dessert) accompanied by Chocolate Crumbs, grilled bananas, burnt marshmallow and banana sorbet. The crecedno came with the Passion Curd Tart with coconut cream, passion mint sorbet and pistachio crunch. This is a perfect spring into summer dessert as it is decadent, yet light with the most refreshing flavors.
All desserts are $12.
