a wonderful addition, I am not a meat lover, and I was not disappointed in any way. The salmon was delicious, moist and delicate and cooked to my request of medium rare perfectly. This was accompanied by a white bean salad and artichoke-herb chutney, and in my world, the more veggies the better. I was extremely pleased and delighted with this chic Italian dining experience.

THE MONTANA DINNER YURT
As soon as you finalize your exact dates for your visit, immediately make a dinner reservation at The Montana Dinner Yurt. It is hands down the most unique, fun filled, and amazing dining experience at Big Sky. It is well worth even multiple dinner visits...I am in deep love with this place. A group of 25 or so meet at the Big Sky Summit Hotel for the 20-minute snowcat ride to the yurt. You have the choice of sitting inside or on top of the snowcat, though sitting outside is really cold, and for the hardcore and very warm-blooded.
We arrived to a roaring bonfire and the invitation for a sled ride down a modest hill. The yurt was very warm and welcoming, and it has a clear dome to see the crystal clear night sky. Our hosts brought wine, and we settled in for a highly memorable evening on every level. We were presented with three selections: filet mignon, veggie pasta, or grilled salmon. We all were served French Onion soup and family style garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies. I was thrilled with the salmon choice; it was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. Maybe it was something about the crazy cold, dry air and high altitude, but my appetite was on fire! I eagerly ate and enjoyed everything, and had plenty of desire to dive into the Toblerone chocolate fondue. I was in yurt heaven. Adding to the magic was a soulful and talented singer/guitar player performing in the background. This was clearly one of those treasured and coveted unique travel/dining experiences that remain with you forever.

THE CABIN BAR AND GRILL
Located on the third floor of the Arrowhead Mall in the Mountain Village, The Cabin Bar and Grill is hearty and creative Rocky Mountain cuisine at it's very best. Chef Stuart Martin successfully makes culinary magic with an interesting blend of local and regional ingredients. The restaurant has a minimal, no nonsense, family style décor where all ages can happily be very comfortable and very well fed. I was excited to step out of my comfort zone, and sampled the 16 oz aged bison grilled cowboy steak.
My choice of The Cabin Salad was a beautiful start. A very generous mix of greens, baby spinach, dried cranberries, orange segments, toasted pecans, blue cheese and scallions, dressed just right with house made huckleberry vinaigrette knocked my New England sock's off. It was a perfect symphony of crunch, color and texture; I could easily live on this daily. ($8.25) Next up, I completely enjoyed the oven roasted Wild Sockeye Salmon with a sauté of artichoke hearts, olives, tomato, red onions, garlic with parmesan horseradish cauliflower mashers ($26.75) Could it be that I finally found one meal that encompassed all my favorite foods? Not one ingredient overpowered any other; this was a unique and sophisticated party of wonderful, fresh, clean flavors. The aged bison ($38.00) farm raised in Iowa was not gamey. Perfectly cooked to medium rare request it was hands down the best steak we ever had!
GETTING THERE
Big Sky is accessible through a number of major U.S. hubs including Denver, Salt Lake City, Newark, Minneapolis-ST. Paul and Las Vegas. Gallatin Field Airport (BZN) sports a runway long enough to accommodate the President's Air Force One. Flights are regularly serviced from United, Frontier, Delta, and Horizon Airlines.
Rental car services include Alamo and Avis. However, we recommend Karst Stage. They are a ground transportation provider with friendly counter service located inside the Bozeman Airport. Round trip to the resort costs $156.50 per person. The trip is approximately 45 miles and offers some beautiful scenery alongside US-191. It takes about an hour door-to-door in good weather.
