Aspen is a magical place for skiers, artists and thinkers alike. All that great energy requires some super food choices to keep the body and mind in motion. And this town has a plethora of fine dinning options to choose from! So much so that you can get lost and confused just trying to make a decision on where to go if you’re a newbie. At first glance tourists seem to shy away from frequenting restaurants that are located in hotels when they have choices. Maybe it’s a vibe that travelers seek when they are away and trying to spread their wings and have a good time. Maybe they believe somehow the experience will be more intimate if they choose a location that makes them feel more like a local. This seems to be a misguided approach, but it is a reality for most first row luxury brand hotels. Especially in Aspen, CO. We love the St. Regis brand! They know how to treat their customers right and provide the highest level of excellence in the business. We were lucky to be in town over Easter weekend and were invited to sample Trecento Quindici Decano restaurant at the St. Regis hotel. Google is a lifesaver sometimes and can swiftly translate any foreign language. The English translation of Trecento Quindici Decano is Three Hundred Dean, which is the address of the hotel. It’s always super busy in Aspen during the winter and even more so during a major holiday like Easter. Dinner reservations can be challenging, especially if you would like the first seating of the night. Our Famtripper insider tip on how to avoid this predicament is to make a reservation at Trecento Quindici Decano. It’s a first row restaurant with stellar service in a romantic setting. Chances are you will be seated without having to wait or inconvenienced. Our reservation was for 6:30PM and when we arrived in the dinning room the restaurant was not busy. There was a large family of ten seated with rambunctious children and twenty or so couples seated strategically as not to encroach on each other. The space is decorated in a modern formal style. The fresh flowers and music created a relaxed and sophisticated ambience. If you have young active kids this probably isn’t the best choice for you because the atmosphere is European and loud conversation isn’t encouraged. Executive Chef Samir Roonwal came out to greet us and made some menu suggestions. We were amazed to see how much care and creativity went into preparing and plating the dishes. Here is what we sampled during our meal:
