awesome backyard patio. This is the kind of food you want to eat on a daily basis; luckily, Frankies is open all day/night, providing ample eating options from leisurely weekend brunches to romantic dinners. For me, Italian = pasta, so one of my favorite dishes is the homemade Cavatelli with Faicco’s Hot Sausage and Sage Browned-Butter. A bowl of sweet sausages and peppers over creamy polenta is a comforting, one-dish meal. Their famous meatballs, served in a tomato sauce sans pasta, are deliciously spiked with pine nuts and raisins. If you go for brunch, do not miss the insanely good bacon, also from NYC legendary Faicco’s Pork Store.
Side Dish: FYI, Frankies is cash-only and doesn't except reservations. Head north on Court Street (and parallel Smith Street) for a walking tour of Brooklyn flavor: stylish, indie boutiques and cozy, neighborhood bars.

MA PECHE
The young, radical chef, David Chang, has rocked the food world with his Momofuku cartel--a collection of four distinctly different and decidedly delicious restaurants. Thanks to his Korean-American heritage and a stint at a renown Japanese noodle bar, his menus incorporate Asian spices with high-quality ingredients from independent American farmers, like Baron Point Oysters, Edward’s Ham . Each dish reflects Chang’s unabashed enthusiasm for meat--he has been slammed for ignoring vegetarian requests at his restaurants. His signature pork buns, thick slabs of pork belly, sweet hoisin, and pickled cucumbers, are worth the wait at his no-reservations restaurants. However, you CAN reserve at his family-style dinners. For an unforgettable feast, book a table for Beef Seven Ways at Má Pêche, the Franco-Vietnamese gem in Midtown. At this gluttonous meat-a-thon, devour hunks of beef tongue, seared Wagyu beef, homemade sausage flavored with Thai lemongrass and basil, plump oxtails, and the pièce-de-résistance, a Flinestone-sized beef shank.
Side Dish: Grab dessert at the adjoining Momofuku Milk Bar, a jewel-box shop of playful sweet treats. Try the Brithday Cake Truffles: balls of vanilla cake and rainbow sprinkles which are redolent of Fun-fetti cake mix . Intensely rich Chocolate Chocolate cookies melt in your mouth and Cereal Milk Ice Cream, topped with Cornflake crunch, is a brilliant nod to childhood, sugary breakfasts.
