Lunch in La Jolla
The drive south to La Jolla along Pacific Coast Highway takes you through some of the best of "beachy" little towns. Leucadia, Encinitas, Cardiff-by-the Sea, Solana Beach and Del Mar. Make sure you leave yourself enough free time to get out of the car on impulse to explore. If you're a golf nut, the spectacular Torrey Pines championship course here will challenge your skill and regale you with awesome vistas. When you finally roll into La Jolla, make sure to take a walk up the stairs to "Sushi on the Rock." Lunch, on the patio, was served by a super hip staff highlighted by a stunning view of downtown with the ocean as a backdrop.

Twin Oaks Golf Course
The course is located within a stones’ throw of the Hilton Garden Inn and only 35 minutes north of San Diego International airport.
It’s a challenging beautiful track that has three spectacular water features. A round of golf won’t break the bank either. However, it’s recommended that you rent a golf cart, as the terrain is quite hilly.

Mon-Thurs $56-$73
Friday $61-$79
Sat-Sun $76-$93

Fahrenheit 451 Bookstore
Following Sunday brunch we took a leisurely walk on the main drag. It's amazing to think that this bustling city was once just a little "whistle stop" of a town. My favorite find of the afternoon was a used bookstore called "Fahrenheit 451." This is the best store I’ve sleuthed since "The Strand" in New York City. It was such a treat to chat with the owner as we wound our way through every meticulously organized nook and cranny. My reward was finding David Sedaris’ “Me Talk Pretty One Day” in perfect condition!
Fine Dining in Carlsbad
Vigalucci’s on Carlsbad Avenue was the perfect fine dining destination. Upon arrival, we perched on comfortable bar stools and sipped a glass of crisp Charles Krug Sauvignon Blanc while waiting to be seated outside. Dinner was delightfully "California style", ruby red ahi tuna topped with arugula, truffle oil French fries and grilled langostini. Scrumptious! What's not to love about dining al fresco on an outdoor patio with the fire pit ablaze?
