Danielle’s Table - The Heart and Soul of the Summer House
Danielle is an amazing woman. She ran the litigation section of a top-tier Boston law firm back in the day. She still litigates and has a stable of ‘A’ list clients. She wanted to buy The Summer House with her husband Peter in the early 1980's, but they passed on the opportunity. They ended up purchasing the property the following year for an additional premium.

Danielle is the consummate hostess. She arranged for us to have a dinner at her table at The Summer House Restaurant - by Todd English. The restaurant is now under English’s direct tutelage and Chef Robert Wood implements English’s menu flawlessly. This evening was to be a truly memorable one. We met for cocktails in the famous ‘Moby Dick’ bar, drank Hendricks martinis and listened to live piano being played in the lounge. It was truly delightful. 

Eclectics are so much fun to be around because they collect interesting friends. Our party included a well known prime-time television producer, a successful HSN entrepreneur, two New York City stand up comedians, a gentleman from Liverpool and a dog named Snoop. Todd English showed up later because his plane had been delayed! We all laughed our faces off during dinner and enjoyed a delicious tasting menu. Here’s a sampling of what we were served:

The secret here is that you get to enjoy an authentic Nantucket B&B experience at a great price and you’ll also be able to hop on the complimentary Summer House shuttle bus service to Siasconset (Taxi service from town to Siasconset is $30 US each way) Spend the day at their private beach and heated pool. They’ll provide you with towel and umbrella service on the beach too. Get there early because the umbrellas go quickly! Kids are welcome.

Air Transportation to Nantucket
Air service to Nantucket for this story was provided by Reliant Air's Nantucket Shuttle departing from either White Plans (HPN) or Danbury (DXR). The service is provided on a King Air turbo prop at a small premium to JetBlue's offering without all the hassles.  Cost is $500 each way, per person from Danbury, (DXR) and $575 from White Plans, (HPN).
