with 118 sq. ft. verandas. As crown jewel of the ship, the amazing 1,636 sq. ft. two-bedroom Reflection Suite and its cantilevered glass rain shower on the ship’s bow boasts a 194 sq. ft. wraparound veranda, sleeps six guests, contains 10-foot windows and sports a grand piano, dining room table, and wet bar. The per diem rate per person based on double occupancy stands at $1,600 for a 7-night Caribbean sailing. While you may want to bring your own chef along, it might be more practical to sample the specialty restaurants aft on Deck 5: Tuscan Grille with Kobe steaks and Napa Valley wines; light Mediterranean dishes at Blu; a formal, classic French dining room at Murano with Riedel stemware, bone china and fine silverware; and Qsine, featuring Sushi Lollipops ordered on iPads.
Beyond Standard Fare
Standard fare as part of a normal package include: nightly dining on Deck 4 in Opus, a grand Hollywood-style 1,460-seat “stage” that draws admiring glances to its ornate central chandelier and iridescent glass wine tower; Oceanview Café (Deck 14) serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in a clean and airy setting of various serving stations offering oven-baked pizzas, fresh pastas, salad bar, fruit, hot chef daily specials, grilled meats and chicken, made-to-order sandwiches, desserts and gelato, and two large coffee and soda stations; and Mast Grill & Bar (Deck 14 ), with munchies like taco, nachos, burgers and chicken wings. Inside the ship on Deck 5 you can enjoy crepes, soups and salads at Bistro on Five or cross over the room to Café al Bacio for gelato or yummy pastries. The AquaSpa Café serves healthy dishes and fruit smoothies under the always-tranquil Solarium near the bow on Deck 14.
Features and Amenities
Much of Celebrity Reflection’s appeal is based on the almost seamless functioning of the 2:1 guest/staff ratio in contrast to the impressive size and scope of the ship. And, of course, there are attractive features: the Martini Bar & Crush (vodka on an ice-frosted countertop); inboard boutiques like Bulgari and Michael Kors; the Fortunes Casino (including Baccarat); Cellar Masters with an Enomatic by-the-glass wine system; Broadway and Hollywood aerial acts in the Reflection Theater; the Celebrity iLounge, an authorized Apple reseller; the tree house charm of “The Hideaway,” and the Lawn Club’s Art Studio, with interactive classes and hands-on demos. You can also explore the quantity and quality of public art on display in the stairs, corridors and staterooms with an iPad as your personal docent!
After my very filling meal at the Lawn Club Grill I strolled forward on the top deck past the Solarium to sip a cognac in the Sky Observation Lounge. Above, the view of the celestial order was incomparable. After all, I was due for a sea change in these wide, open spaces!
