Moseying down Main Street in a Western ski town wearing vintage Tony Lama boots got me instantly into the holiday spirit. There’s light snow falling as we make our way down Main Street in Park City, Utah. The lights are twinkling. People were out and about doing their last minute shopping. It’s a delightful scene.
We’re on our way to dine at 350 Main. It’s an address and a restaurant with good karma. In a past life it was the home of The Golden Rule Mercantile Company, which was owned by J.C. Penney. This location was where it all started for the giant retailer.
Dr. Aaron Hofmann an Orthopedic Surgeon and medical device inventor out of Salt Lake City purchased the building seventeen years ago and renovated it. He kept the vintage tin ceiling and transformed the interior into a modern day Western saloon.
Our table is in the main dining room with floor to ceiling windows facing Main Street. We’re seated at a upholstered saddle-leather booth. It’s semi-curved with bench style seating and two bar-height chairs. We suggest being seated facing the dining room. You’ll be able to people watch and canoodle to your hearts content. If some friends happen to meander by, you’ll able to share a moment with them too. Please check out the contemporary art and catch the peeking views of the open kitchen. It’s all part of the show!
With the help of Executive Chef Carl Fiessinger the restaurant just revamped the menu. He’s a Low Country boy at heart and hales from Charleston, South Carolina. When we heard that the food was prepared ‘Farm to Table’ with a contemporary Southern Low Country flair our interest immediately peeked. We conjured up Pat Conroy’s novel ‘Beach Music’ and all the delicious meals the charaters made from the catch of the day.
The room was buzzing with a cool vibe and people were enjoying themselves. 350 Main is the perfect place to be seen in Park City and have a great time with family and friends. Josh Cowart the General Manger is a hands on proprietor and a consummate host. He loves people, food and the restaurant business. When he suggested that we relax and let chef Carl take us on a tasting tour of the menu we smiled with joy. Here's a sampling of what we were served:
