Road Trip Day 5: San Antonio Riverwalk Impresses
Not that you could miss it, but any visit to San Antonio should include a stroll along the Riverwalk.
Don't let the "tourist trap" label fool you - there is plenty of peace to be found as you walk along the small river, taking in the sights of the trees and the buildings, the smell of the flowers and food.
It was cloudy and rainy today (walking is obviously more enjoyable in nice weather), yet I still found myself impressed by the way they've maintained a sense of relaxation in most areas. Other than the entrance near Alamo Park, it seemed calm and pleasant (although to be fair I never felt overwhelmed, even in the busiest of areas).
Another notable experience: I went and had a whiskey at the Menger Hotel Bar, where Roosevelt recruited the Rough Riders (Spanish-American War).
Anyone know what Mr. Roosevelt would have drank?
