Parallel 37- Hip Farm to Table Dining at the San Francisco Ritz Carlton
Parallel 37 restaurant is the latest hip hot spot located in the Ritz Carlton San Francisco. Our initial impressions were underpinned by the designers' use of natural wood veneers and stone. Your attention will automatically gravitate towards the bar. It's framed by a mosaic of earth toned stained glass and dramatically back lit. It is the epicenter of the space.
We were easily drawn to all the beautiful people and activity going on. The bar's lounge is furnished with low backed sofas, modern chocolate leather and red ultra swede club chairs, this festive looking space beckons to the gathering of friends who can snuggle up in corners or canoodle with their special someone.
We've heard that the ambient noise level increases at times so if you're going to pop the big question or close your first round of funding for an internet startup, you may need a backup plan! Parallel 37 is a place to chill, have fun, enjoy delicious food, great wine and good friends. (If everyone there was milk toast you'd be in the wrong place, wouldn't you?)
The main dinning room seats seventy-eight and seating is comprised of mostly four-top walnut tables. The chairs are designed with hardwood and comfortable upholstered seats and backs. There are several other similar tables that have been grouped together to accommodate larger parties with leather bench style seating adjacent to the half-walls. There is also a semi-private chef's table located in the back. I'd say it's perfect for a business meeting or a family gathering. It's not necessarily a chef's table where you can see all the up close action of what goes on behind the scenes with "Iron Chef" Ron Siegel.
Parallel 37 offers foodies a unique natural setting with a modern vibe. The ambiance complements the farm to table local produce, seafood and Northern California wines selections that are served up on the menu.
We'd encourage ordering several of the "small bites" and appetizer selections to round out your dining experience. These portions are suited to this style of casual dinning. Here's a sampling of what we tried:
