The cutest little lunch spot on Isla Verde Beach is Cafe la Plage located outdoors at the Beach House Hotel. This is where the locals hang so the prices are super reasonable. Pull up a bar stool and sip a "Don Q" rum and coke. Order some tamarind chicken wings in guava sauce ($8) and the salt cod "croquetas"with Asian aioli. ($7.50) The DJ's cool dance mixes turn this hip beach scene into your own private movie in paradise. Open wide and say... "AWESOME!"
Slipped into a summer dress and strolled down Isla Verde beach from the Verdanza Hotel, which is only 15-minutes by cab from San Juan's International Airport. It's a totally laid back scene and these cool guys were enjoying flipping the Frisbee around. It turns out, one of them travels the world as a professional player and he teaches his magic on the beach. Wow! We were all amazed. Come watch the fun each Sunday beachside at the Verdanza Hotel.
Welcome to Isla Verde Beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico! We've just arrived for a weeks' tour of the island. It's the holiday season and coming from New York City where it's getting chilly, I couldn't wait to dip my toes in the warm Caribbean Sea. Although it's only a 3- hour flight from JFK, it's hard to find a healthy snack in the air these days. Voila! Time for a homemade pineapple ice cream on the beach. Join me on my adventures through Puerto Rico this week and fun in the sun!
